Robinho sentenced 9 years in prison

A Brazil court has ruled former Brazilian, Manchester City and Real Madrid forward Robinho to serve a nine-year rape sentence in his country.

Robinho aged 40, was found guilty by an Italian court in 2017 of taking part in the 2013 rape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman.

Judges in Brasilia  the capital city of Brazil ruled on 20 march,2024 that Robinho should serve his sentence in Brazil following a request from Italy.

The former Brazilian player has a chance to  appeal against the ruling if is possible lawyers from Brasilia said.

After being found guilty Robinho lost an appeal in 2020 before Italy's highest court upheld his sentence in 2022. Italian prosecutors then issued an international arrest warrant for him.

  Burnley coach Vincent Kompany insists his team will continue to retain belief they can avoid relegation from the Premier League, despite dropping more points from a winning position against West Ham.
